WHAT IS A 3D NAUTICAL CHART
Captain Richard A Heath, has always been intrigued by the ocean seascape for some days it can be as smooth as glass and others it can turn into a monster of mountains of water. But even more intriguing is the water depths, for we know more of the moons surface then we do of the ocean bottom.
Richard has created these 3D charts so that more people can experience the beauty of the oceans contours made beneath the waves surface giving more understanding on what would cause the waves to build to massive heights, the mountains, valleys and cliffs that lie below, the place that the whales, seals and sealife consider their home.
Richard can reproduce any chart, harbor or port to your liking. as well as carve your personal yacht, lighthouse or vessels of years past to scale and painted to match it’s original colors.
The interior of the frames can be internally illuminated with rope lighting or LED lights to give a nice soft glow blending well to a den, study or office environment.
Having owned and lettered numerous boats and yachts in marinas and boat yards over many years has inspired Richard to accomplish his goal of attaining his ship captains license, he now holds his 50 ton masters. While studying charts and water depths for his license and with his ability of carving and woodworking experience, he developed the idea of the 3D Nautical charts with personalized carved vessels applied.
Richard and his wife Deborah still reside in Merrimac, MA where they have a fabrication shop for chart building, as well as a home and shop in Port St Lucie, FL where he can still continue to build and be creative in the winter months.
